The world, having just recovered from the Great Depression, was now in the grips of war. Adolf Hitler’s meteoric rise through the late 1930s had led to the establishment of the Nazi Party and the outbreak of World War II. Unlike WWI, weapons and warcraft were sophisticated. It would end with the dropping of the atomic bombs over Japan. But not before millions died on the fields and in concentration camps. Also during this decade, DNA was discovered, Gandhi assassinated, the creation of an Independent State of Israel, the outbreak of the Chinese Civil War, Apartheid made official policy in South Africa and Berlin divided.
